Art
I like to travel, and I like to pick up art while I'm at it. This section is a curation of what I've brought back.
It's a mix of souvenirs and handmade pieces bought directly from the artists themselves.

Painting of Istanbul's Galata Tower at sunset
I got this at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, while I was strolling around looking for something else entirely. This little painting caught my eye from a distance, just from how vibrant the colors were. I picked it up instantly, and I've loved it ever since.

Whirling dervish artwork on a ceramic tile, framed
There's something magical about witnessing a dervish ceremony. I wanted to be able to remember that feeling even after leaving Turkey, so I specifically hunted this piece down.

A tote bag illustrated with a mango, from ordering every mango variety Blinkit had to offer
This is about finding art in everyday, mundane things. This tote bag came from ordering every mango variety Blinkit had to offer, all in one go. The paper bags the groceries actually arrive in are their own small works of art too, but those don't survive being framed.
Framing this tote for my kitchen is an ode to all the mangoes I gulp down every summer, and to Blinkit being my main supplier of them.

These are four of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland. I have plans to color them in, minimalistically, and frame each one.

Watercolor painting of Ponte Vecchio at sunset
Florence is a city so beautiful that artists are in constant pursuit of capturing it. I came across one of them working near the Ponte Vecchio, completely engrossed in her next piece, with this painting already out on display. I fell in love with her interpretation of the bridge instantly. It's one of my prized possessions.

Print of Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms over Lake Kawaguchi
I visited Japan during cherry blossom season, but I never managed to see Mount Fuji and the blossoms together. I tried for three days straight, and I only caught the mountain on my last day there.
This print makes up for that. It's exactly how I'd imagined the view would look.

Tenugui printed with Hokusai's The Great Wave off Kanagawa
I picked this up from Itoya in Ginza. I have a vision for it, framing it properly and turning it into a real painting for the house. Classic Japan, exactly what I want on the wall.

Relief carving of an Egyptian pharaoh and queen, on stone, likely basalt
I picked this up near the Hatshepsut Temple. It feels like the perfect memento of Luxor, the city built around the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.

Papyrus painting of a winged goddess, likely Isis or Maat, with hieroglyphic borders
This one is on papyrus, picked up again in Luxor. It's the piece that made me realize I should get serious about collecting art while I travel, not just picking things up on a whim, so that one day I can actually display them in my own house.

I picked this up from a papyrus paper factory in Luxor. I fell in love with it instantly, the vibrant colors and the intricate details were impossible to walk past.

Picasso print reproductions
This was the first art I ever bought, on a solo trip to Malaga, the city where Picasso was born. I didn't know much yet, and I didn't have the budget for real work, so I settled for reproductions of his famous pieces. I picked up six or seven of them.
I don't have these anymore. I ended up gifting them to someone. But they still belong in this collection, because they were the very first pieces in it.
